Great Yarmouth Casino Large Licence Decided

Great Yarmouth Casino Large Licence Decided

After 18 months of council processes the Great Yarmouth Casino large Licence has been decided (barring any appeal). There were 2 applications for the Great Yarmouth Casino 2005 gaming act licence. Patrick Duffy of Palatial Leisure Ltd and Albert Jones of Pleasure and Leisure Property Cooperation Ltd.

A unanimous decision was reached by the Licence Committee and the Great Yarmouth Casino Large Licence was awarded to:

Albert Jones of Pleasure and Leisure. The intended site for the new Great Yarmouth Casino is within the complex called the Edge . This is to include a 8 screen cinema, bars , restaurants, bowling alley, hotel and of course the Great Yarmouth Casino.

Albert Jones of Pleasure and Leisure and the New Great Yarmouth Casino quoted

“Pleasure and Leisure Corporation are delighted to have won the casino licence after more than 10 years of hard work.

“I would like to dedicate this success to my late father Jimmy who gave so much support throughout the long drawn out procedure. My thanks also to Karen Hawes of Hawes Price Ltd for her tireless efforts in helping to secure the licence.

“We hope that this will be the start of major investment in Great Yarmouth, create hundreds of full and part-time jobs and boost the local economy. If all goes to plan work should start on site before the end of the year.”

The Great Yarmouth Casino plans to be open 24 hours and be a big positive impact to the employment of the local and surrounding communities, this will have had a contributing factor towards being issued with the License for the Great Yarmouth Casino.

The Great Yarmouth Casino Licence is now the 3rd 2005 gaming act Licence to be issued, the 2 previous have been awarded to Aspers Casinos. Their first was by the Newham Council for their casino in Stratford. The Aspers Casino Stratford in the Westfield Centre has seen amazing success since its opening day. This can only improve once the Olympics start later this year which is in walking distance of the Casino. Aspers second licence has just been awarded for the 2005 Large Licence in Milton Keynes and is expected to be open some time in 2013.

Chairman of the License Committee for the Great Yarmouth Casino Licence said

It was a straightforward, unanimous decision. It was reached fairly. It’s good for the town and if you look at the government criteria for casinos, the first priority was that it must be beneficial to the town.

“It will be open all year round so employment will be improved. They will also use local suppliers so it will boost employment and that is what we need in Great Yarmouth.”

St Peters Gate

Three guys died and when St. Peter met them at the pearly gates, he said, "I know that you guys are forgiven because you're here. Before I let you into Heaven, I have to ask you something. You have to have a car in Heaven because Heaven is so big. What kind of car you get will depend on your answer."

The first guy walked up and St. Peter asked him, "How long were you married?" He answered, "24 years." "Did you ever cheat on your wife?", St. Peter asked. The guy said, "Yeah, 7 times ... but you said I was forgiven." St. Peter said, "Yeah, but that's not too good. Here's a Fiat Uno to drive."

The second guy walked up and got the same question from St. Peter. He answered, "I was married for 41 years and cheated on her once, but that was our first year and we really worked it out." St. Peter said, "I'm pleased to hear that. Here's a Alpha Romeo ."

The third guy walked up and said, "St. Peter, I know what you're going to ask. I was married for 63 years and didn't even look at another woman! I treated my wife like a queen!" St. Peter said, "That's what I like to hear. Here's a Rolls Royce !"

A few days later, the two guys with the Fiat Uno and the Alpha Romeo saw the guy with the Jaguar, crying on the golden sidewalk. When they asked him what was wrong, he said, "I just saw my wife. She was on a skateboard!"

Milton Keynes casino decision deferred again by council

Scaled down plans to build a casino in the Xscape building in Milton Keynes have again been deferred.

Milton Keynes Council said more information about the impact on traffic was needed before it could grant planning permission.

The original plan for a complex including a hotel and shops was presented by X-Leisure in 2009.

A reduced application to convert the ground floor was made in October 2011 but delayed for further consultation.

The revised plans were returned to the council's development control committee on Thursday which made the decision to defer pending a traffic assessment.

Developers can only apply for a casino licence once the plans have been agreed.

However, two other locations in the Milton Keynes area also have outline planning permission for the complex - the Leisure Plaza near the railway station and Stadium MK in Bletchley.

Pintrest - The New Social Media Craze

Pintrest the latest social media craze sweeping the world. (if you haven't heard of this you have now)
This Social site differs from the others as you share your interest through photos /pictures first and then add a few words to that, you can create your GROUPS of interest and follow the particular subjects groups or you can follow people.  You can also start your own group or interest. You don't have to be a photographer or an artist, just grab a picture you like off the web (or use your own) which inspires or appeals to you and say a few words or just post the picture, You can even grab a picture off the Pintrest board and re pin it on your space.  People use it for personal pleasure (no comments please) for common groups or to promote their business.
The Trend at the moment is : Saturated Geometric Patterns (I don't have the foggiest either, but its something to do with angles)
Can you believe that some people have Pintrest gatherings/ meets and parties, Of course during the course of the party they take loads of pictures of each other along with the food and drink, Yes you have guessed it, then they PIN their interests onto Pintrest (these party goers are mainly women, based on facts not my opinion. honest)
There is also a Facebook page where you can go to and ask/request an invite.
There is also a blog with pinterviews, pintips pin round ups and pintresting trends
The other unusual part of Pintrest is you either have to be invited or request an invite to get on their site. Will you be there ????
You could start your own group
The Happy workforce / The Bill leaving party / my weekends
Your only limit is your imagination and desire

TCS John Huxley chairman Bertil Knutsson recently received the Outstanding Contribution Award at the fifth International Gaming Awards.

Born in 1932 as the youngest of four children, he was brought up in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Developing a keen interest in boxing when he was younger, he was an international boxing referee and became a promoter of professional boxing events featuring legends such as Sonny Liston. He also promoted other sporting events such as The Harlem Globetrotters and the tennis tournament WCT, which hosted legendary players such as Björn Borg, Stan Smith, Arthur Ashe, Ilie Nastase and Rod Laver.
It was not until 1959 that he started in the gaming industry, operating casinos in Sweden. However, Sweden soon became too small for his visions and in the early 1980s he branched out to international market. It was at this time he invented the ground-breaking chip sorting machine, the Chipper Champ, which changed the face of gaming floors worldwide. In 2001, with his partners, he formed a company introducing Ladbrokes eGaming into the Nordic countries. Within five years the company recruited over 300,000 new members, making around 40 per cent of Ladbrokes eGaming’s total poker revenues. Among many others, he and his family are also major shareholders in Betsson AB and Net Entertainment.
In 2003 TCS acquired John Huxley and TCS John Huxley was born. The company continues to be at the forefront of the supply and manufacture of live table gaming equipment and goes from strength to strength in this competitive arena. On receiving the award, Knutsson commented: “I am overwhelmed and extremely delighted to receive this honour. It is very satisfying to be acknowledged not only for my achievements to the gaming industry, but also the varied other work I have been involved with over the years

Rank to buy Gala

Rank is pursuing talks with Gala Coral over a deal that could create the biggest casino business in the country.Rank’s Grosvenor division already has 35 casinos but it hopes to expand by buying the 24 outlets owned by debt-laden rival Gala Coral. This would see it overtake Malaysia’s Genting, currently the UK’s biggest casino operator with 45 sites.

Leeds Invite Applications for Large Licence

Council chiefs will be kick-starting the processes to move forward with the awarding of a large casino licence in Leeds next week.
The council was granted the authority to award a large casino licence after a successful bid to the Government in 2006, and is now in the position to start the licensing process with a view to granting a licence in Leeds in under two years.
A report submitted to Leeds City Council’s executive board next week (Wednesday 10 March) will outline the processes and update members on the need to move forward on the matter.
A large casino has the potential to bring a substantial number of benefits to Leeds, including economic, financial and social benefits, and to assist in the economic regeneration of the city.
The council will follow through the legally complex licensing process, with the view to being in a position to award the licence towards the end of 2011.
Councillor Andrew Carter, Leader of council said:
“Leeds is the only core city to have been awarded this licence, and it will become a great asset to the city once in place. These casino licences were meant to deliver the greatest benefit to an area in terms of jobs and economic regeneration, and we remain confident that a large casino can still play a big part in the city's regeneration plans.

ICE 2012 Update

The Gardens in Summer
The ICE show has now come and gone again for another year, you may have seen in the newsletter that TCSJH decided that  as ICE was in its last year at Earls Court that we would do things a little differently.  Luke and Tracy  emulated the successfully format they have used in Vegas for several years. AAA (Access All Areas)

They chose the KensingtonRoof Gardens (owned by the Virgin Group and purchased by Richard Branson in 1986) which.
The idea is to give the customer an Experience from the moment they enter the venue until they leave.

If the customers used our transport from Earls Courts to our venue then that experience started at Earls Court in our VIP waiting lounge right outside Earls Courts main doors, they were then whisked away on our mini buses, (3) well they were once mini buses but all the seats had been ripped out and replaced with leather seats along with playstations and video screens to help ease the pain of the London traffic.

The other aim of the change of venue was to truly have a captive audience which was achieved as many of the customers who did attend never left until we had to ask them to leave politely.

The main interest from the UK customers was around our "INFINITY DEALER" and our "TABLET SOLUTION" coming to casinos near you very soon.

Interest was also shown for the SUPERNOVA Table Bonus system (progressive) which is also in the process of migrating to Roulette as well as all the card based games.  DAR (Double Action Roulette) was also a popular pull

The show was a success from the attendance figures (approx 1000) and hopefully they will be later turned in into sales later in the year, so a big well done from planning to execution to all those involved in the show, Of course the sales teams are backed up by the excellent support the engineers provide year to year  to the front line customers aided by logistics and the Stoke teams which make the sales pitches that much easier . We are all in it together and all play an important part in TCSJH

I may even have some pictures for future captions of the week

Staying Alive

Recently Sarah Currie did a Presentation on First Aid, those present felt that it was that good and the information would be of possible benafit to all of you out there (hopefully not)

So here it is, (Thanks Sarah)

The information below is basic, but if remembered, will enable you to know what to do in the case of an accident or emergency and may even save someone’s life.

There are four basic things to remember.

  1. D.R.A.B.

This acronym explains what you should do first when faced with an injured person

D is for Danger – make sure that the area is safe for you to approach the injured person.

R is for Response – Ascertain their state of consciousness, by talking, tapping their shoulder (remember they could be deaf)

A is for Airway – it may be that their airway is restricted, ease this by gently moving their jaw upward and forward.

B is for Breathing – Listen close to their mouths, and watch for the rise and fall of the chest.

Next steps:-

If the injured person is still breathing, put them in the recovery position and call the emergency services.

If they are not breathing, call the emergency services first and commence CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

Adult CPR – the non breathing person to be on the floor or hard surface. Interlock fingers with one hand on top of the other, place in the centre of the chest and with arms locked straight, leaning over the causality, do 30 compressions, then breathe 2 breaths into their mouth, with the head tilted back and their nose pinched closed. Compressions should be at a rate of two per second. Repeat until help arrives, or you are no longer able to physically continue.

Child CPR – Dependent on age/size of child. Babies and very small children, 5 breathes first, then 30 chest compressions with just two fingers, then 2 breaths. Larger/older children, same sequence, but with one hand only doing the chest compressions

  1. P.E.P

This acronym explains briefly what to do with a severe bleeding injury.

P is for Pressure - apply pressure to the wound to help stem the bleeding. If there is an embedded object in the wound, do not remove it but apply pressure either side of it.

E is for Elevation – raise the wounded area of the body above the heart area. This helps to restrict the flow of blood to the wound.

P is for Position put the injured in a position to combat the onset of shock which will is a result of heavy blood loss by lying them down, with their legs raised and keep them warm with a blanket or coats. And then call the emergency services.

  1. A.M. P.L.E.

This acronym explains briefly what you can do to assist the emergency services when they arrive by being ready with basic, but necessary information.

A is for Allergies – ask the casualty if they are allergic to anything

M is for Medication – ask if they are currently taking any medication and what for

P is for Past History – ask if they have any medical history that should be taken into account

L is for Last Meal – when did they last eat, how large was the meal – necessary information in case they need an aesthetic

E is for Event – ascertain if they actually know what happened to make them become injured, or did they just black out and come round injured

  1. EU = 112

112 is the EU equivalent to 999. You can call this number anywhere in the EU, including the UK, for free, from a payphone, a land line or a mobile. If a mobile is used, your location can be tracked via the GPS signal, in case you are unsure of your location, and the operator will be able to speak English
