Proposed New Casino's 2005 Gambling Act


The 2005 gambling Act has proposed that sixteen new casinos may be licensed in the UK. Those new casinos are divided into eight “small” and eight “large”
The bidding process has to be undertaken with the relevant local authority before any such casino can be established.
Under Section 175(4) of the Gambling Act 2005 the areas determined as potential locations for Large casinos are:

Great Yarmouth
Kingston Upon Hull
Leeds
Middlesbrough
Milton Keynes
Newham (London) License awarded to Aspers
Solihull
Southampton

Large casinos will be entitled to offer up to 150 category B1 gaming machines
and to provide betting and bingo.
Casino size between 1500m2 – 3500m2
Machine/Table ration of 5/1 up to a maximum

Under Section 175(4) of the Gambling Act 2005 the areas determined as potential locations for small casinos are:

Bath & North East Somerset
Dumfries & Galloway
East Lindsey
Luton
Scarborough
Swansea
Torbay
Wolverhampton

Small casinos will be entitled to offer up to 80 category B1 gaming
machines and to provide betting but no bingo.
Machine table ratio 2-1 up to a maximum.
Size 500m2 -1500m2
