Leeds Invite Applications for Large Licence

Council chiefs will be kick-starting the processes to move forward with the awarding of a large casino licence in Leeds next week.
The council was granted the authority to award a large casino licence after a successful bid to the Government in 2006, and is now in the position to start the licensing process with a view to granting a licence in Leeds in under two years.
A report submitted to Leeds City Council’s executive board next week (Wednesday 10 March) will outline the processes and update members on the need to move forward on the matter.
A large casino has the potential to bring a substantial number of benefits to Leeds, including economic, financial and social benefits, and to assist in the economic regeneration of the city.
The council will follow through the legally complex licensing process, with the view to being in a position to award the licence towards the end of 2011.
Councillor Andrew Carter, Leader of council said:
“Leeds is the only core city to have been awarded this licence, and it will become a great asset to the city once in place. These casino licences were meant to deliver the greatest benefit to an area in terms of jobs and economic regeneration, and we remain confident that a large casino can still play a big part in the city's regeneration plans.

ICE 2012 Update

The Gardens in Summer
The ICE show has now come and gone again for another year, you may have seen in the newsletter that TCSJH decided that  as ICE was in its last year at Earls Court that we would do things a little differently.  Luke and Tracy  emulated the successfully format they have used in Vegas for several years. AAA (Access All Areas)

They chose the KensingtonRoof Gardens (owned by the Virgin Group and purchased by Richard Branson in 1986) which.
The idea is to give the customer an Experience from the moment they enter the venue until they leave.

If the customers used our transport from Earls Courts to our venue then that experience started at Earls Court in our VIP waiting lounge right outside Earls Courts main doors, they were then whisked away on our mini buses, (3) well they were once mini buses but all the seats had been ripped out and replaced with leather seats along with playstations and video screens to help ease the pain of the London traffic.

The other aim of the change of venue was to truly have a captive audience which was achieved as many of the customers who did attend never left until we had to ask them to leave politely.

The main interest from the UK customers was around our "INFINITY DEALER" and our "TABLET SOLUTION" coming to casinos near you very soon.

Interest was also shown for the SUPERNOVA Table Bonus system (progressive) which is also in the process of migrating to Roulette as well as all the card based games.  DAR (Double Action Roulette) was also a popular pull

The show was a success from the attendance figures (approx 1000) and hopefully they will be later turned in into sales later in the year, so a big well done from planning to execution to all those involved in the show, Of course the sales teams are backed up by the excellent support the engineers provide year to year  to the front line customers aided by logistics and the Stoke teams which make the sales pitches that much easier . We are all in it together and all play an important part in TCSJH

I may even have some pictures for future captions of the week

Staying Alive

Recently Sarah Currie did a Presentation on First Aid, those present felt that it was that good and the information would be of possible benafit to all of you out there (hopefully not)

So here it is, (Thanks Sarah)

The information below is basic, but if remembered, will enable you to know what to do in the case of an accident or emergency and may even save someone’s life.

There are four basic things to remember.

  1. D.R.A.B.

This acronym explains what you should do first when faced with an injured person

D is for Danger – make sure that the area is safe for you to approach the injured person.

R is for Response – Ascertain their state of consciousness, by talking, tapping their shoulder (remember they could be deaf)

A is for Airway – it may be that their airway is restricted, ease this by gently moving their jaw upward and forward.

B is for Breathing – Listen close to their mouths, and watch for the rise and fall of the chest.

Next steps:-

If the injured person is still breathing, put them in the recovery position and call the emergency services.

If they are not breathing, call the emergency services first and commence CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

Adult CPR – the non breathing person to be on the floor or hard surface. Interlock fingers with one hand on top of the other, place in the centre of the chest and with arms locked straight, leaning over the causality, do 30 compressions, then breathe 2 breaths into their mouth, with the head tilted back and their nose pinched closed. Compressions should be at a rate of two per second. Repeat until help arrives, or you are no longer able to physically continue.

Child CPR – Dependent on age/size of child. Babies and very small children, 5 breathes first, then 30 chest compressions with just two fingers, then 2 breaths. Larger/older children, same sequence, but with one hand only doing the chest compressions

  1. P.E.P

This acronym explains briefly what to do with a severe bleeding injury.

P is for Pressure - apply pressure to the wound to help stem the bleeding. If there is an embedded object in the wound, do not remove it but apply pressure either side of it.

E is for Elevation – raise the wounded area of the body above the heart area. This helps to restrict the flow of blood to the wound.

P is for Position put the injured in a position to combat the onset of shock which will is a result of heavy blood loss by lying them down, with their legs raised and keep them warm with a blanket or coats. And then call the emergency services.

  1. A.M. P.L.E.

This acronym explains briefly what you can do to assist the emergency services when they arrive by being ready with basic, but necessary information.

A is for Allergies – ask the casualty if they are allergic to anything

M is for Medication – ask if they are currently taking any medication and what for

P is for Past History – ask if they have any medical history that should be taken into account

L is for Last Meal – when did they last eat, how large was the meal – necessary information in case they need an aesthetic

E is for Event – ascertain if they actually know what happened to make them become injured, or did they just black out and come round injured

  1. EU = 112

112 is the EU equivalent to 999. You can call this number anywhere in the EU, including the UK, for free, from a payphone, a land line or a mobile. If a mobile is used, your location can be tracked via the GPS signal, in case you are unsure of your location, and the operator will be able to speak English

Microsoft, Apple Mount Legal Attack on Android

Microsoft and Apple are employing different legal strategies in their fight against Google‘s Android OS, as courts rule Motorola phones violate a Microsoft patent and Apple opens another front against Samsung.

On Tuesday, the U.S. International Trade Commission said Motorola’s Android handsets violate a Microsoft patent covering technology that generates meeting requests and group scheduling. The initial determination follows an October 2010 complaint accusing Motorola of infringing several other patents, but the ITC ruled on just on one patent.

Meanwhile, Apple, which earlier this month lost its bid to keep Samsung’s Galaxy 10.1 tablet out of Australia, is now claiming the device’s case, along with cases for Samsung’s phones, infringe its patents and design, expanding patent disputes between the two companies.

Dusk Till Dawn

Dusk Till Dawn seems to be going from strength to strength and are reported to be gaining 4 V+ Gaminators early next year along with 2 more AR tables. With this in mind the club wanted to create more space on their gaming floor.
Ian Smith headed this operation up (Install team busy on a little Aspers job) from site visit, quote and the actual move itself along with Sean Deehan, of course as this was a regular install things were bound to go wrong and they did.

Optic Fibre, need I say more ! after a broken amplifier and non terminated glass fibre cables (3rd party contractors) Ian and Sean pulled out all the stops and completed the work. As you can see from the photos it all looks good

The Isle Of Man Wants 2nd Casino on the Island

The Isle of Man government has taken steps to actively pursue investors with a view to constructing a large five star hotel and casino complex on the island with the backing and support of the state itself.
Such a complex would be viewed as a welcome addition to the already established attractions of the island including many outdoor activities available such as nine golf courses, a national sports centre and motor racing facilities.
The island’s government have issued documents which provide further information for parties interested in investing and working with the Manx government on the project and such information is now available on request form the island’s Department of Economic Development.
The island will be actively pitching its good transportation links with the U.K. as well as providing potential investors with information on why it is that the Isle of Man is an excellent location for such a hotel and casino complex.
Isle of Man Economic Development Minister John Shimmin said ‘A new resort would be a welcome addition to our already successful visitor attractions and will add to the Island’s development. I am delighted that this project is progressing well and anticipate good levels of interest in this unique opportunity to develop a hotel and resort complex in the Isle of Man.”

Ex-miners’ union headquarters set to become 24-hour casino

AMENDED plans to convert the former National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) headquarters in Sheffield city centre into a 24-hour casino with bars and restaurants are set to be approved by council officials next week

Barnsley-based Brook Leisure is aiming to transform the building, creating a casino and entertainment complex with two “high quality” restaurants and a roof-top bar with views across the city. A total of 130 jobs are predicted.
Brook Group chief executive Jason Brook said: “The NUM building is one of Sheffield’s most prominent buildings, but has been left behind throughout the city’s recent regeneration activity and it’s hard to believe that the UK’s fourth largest city does not have a city centre casino.
“We are incredibly excited at the prospect of bringing the building back to life as a unique and new entertainment destination, which will in turn create new employment opportunities.
“We have committed to a lease on the building and are very hopeful that the council will continue to support us in our efforts to create further opportunities and see this building finally brought into use.

The Xmas Gifts you should NOT buy the Wife / Girlfriend

Its the festive time of year  and as men we all have that delicate balancing act of buying the correct gift for Christmas, and if you are anything like me on occasion you WILL get it horribly wrong. So here are some of the DO NOT under any circumstance tips and advice (Remember I am Male so all advice given on the female of the species is totally irrelevant and useless)

Do NOT fall for the "lets not buy any presents for each other this year"

If you decided between yourselves to spend up to a certain budget, increase it by 10 to 15%, it may not impress the woman in your life but as a man its a practical thing and you will have that warm satisfied glow inside (similar to other activities you share in your lives)

If you have forgotten to get anything DO NOT suggest the surprise is the Boxing day sales

Here is the Top Ten list of What Not To Buy

  1. Hoover
  2. A pair of Season Tickets to your Favourite football team
  3. Cash (Never ever, ever and especially do not leave it on the bedside table for her)
  4. Lingerie (Wrong size , accusations of is that the other woman's size)
  5. Blender, Iron, Deep fat fryer (or any Kitchen appliance, keep well clear)
  6. A pair of Day experience tickets (you are man and you will pick an activity that suits YOU)
  7. A days Cookery course (She will take it the wrong way)
  8. A Cookery Book (She will take it the wrong way)
  9. Make-Up (You Will get the wrong Brand and if, when you get caught in her make-up bag acting suspiciously only awkward questions will ensue and for many years after)
  10. A Sexy Santa Suit for Xmas morning (To start with its actually for YOUR benefit and there will be conversations after about your fantasies and that will never lead to a good place)

If You Belive in Santa Please Do NOT Watch

Leeds prepares to invite large casino applicants

Leeds City Council expects to begin inviting applications for its large UK casino licence towards the end of January

Following a public consultation earlier this year, the council is currently in the process of agreeing the policy that will determine how its application process will work. The policy was approved by the council’s executive board last month and will be going to the full council meeting in January.
Council communications officer Emma Whittell told InterGaming that if the policy is approved, potential developers would then be invited to apply for the licence.
At the moment, she said, the council does not have a preferred location. In recent years several sites have been suggested as possibilities for development.
It remains to be seen, however, whether a city that already houses four casinos, will be as attractive a proposition as some of the other locations permitted to offer large casino licences under the 2005 Gambling Act.
